All about Sunbeam Ales
Sunbeam Ales is a Leeds based microbrewery run by Nigel Poustie. It was established in 2012 and has developed a reputation for multi award-winning cask ales. The brewery is only 2BBL so limited amounts of the sort after cask ales are distributed around Yorkshire.
Nigel mostly brews once a week, occasionally twice, rotating through a range of beers. Periodically he will brew a seasonal special, often incorporating foraged ingredients. The brewery doesn’t hold much stock, so it is a good idea to place pre-orders.

So where does the name come from?
The brewery was initially started when Nigel lived in his back to back house in South Leeds, Sunbeam Terrace. The beer names are loosely weather related for obvious reasons but there is a sprinkle of music and sport both of which are Nigel’s other passions in life. Can you spot one of his favourite bands?

The artwork
The branding and artwork is all designed by Nigel’s wife, Faye who is an artist/illustrator running her own business selling greeting cards and paper sculptures. The addition of Sunbeam T-shirts have proved extremely popular.

And don’t forget the kids.
Nigel and Faye’s two children are enthusiastic helpers, especially when it comes to naming new beers. Parachuting Hedgehog and Moonlit Night are always top of their beer names list and are still to be used one day.
